Southern California, late afternoon. The light here is long and golden, stretching across quiet streets lined with tall palm trees and low-slung buildings. Ludwig Favre works in these spaces, sunlit sidewalks, concrete courts, empty pools, where the architecture of mid-century meets the soft glow of dusk. Palm trunks frame windows and facades, casting sharp shadows on pavement or pool water. Figures move through this light: cyclists along sandy paths, children on swings, a lone figure crossing a street. The palette is warm yet precise, beige loungers, red brick, blue sky reflected in water or car hoods. There’s a stillness to it, the calm before evening, when the city quiets and the light settles into long, even rectangles.
