Ludwig Favre photographs a single Palm Springs façade marked by the address 1882, set into the wall like a date on a coin. The detail is typical of his approach to the California desert: instead of the celebrated mid-century houses, the photographer often looks at the smallest legible unit of the architecture, a number, a doorway, a painted block. The image belongs to his long Palm Springs catalogue, made over several years of returning visits.
