Ludwig Favre returns to the same reading room over several days, documenting its quiet order,towering bookshelves, gilded ceilings, and classical frescoes,where lamplight lingers even after the sun has moved on. The focus here is not on the readers but on the architecture itself: the symmetry of warm wood paneling, the weight of ornate plasterwork, the way soft daylight diffuses through skylights to land on rows of chairs and benches, creating a sense of depth without movement.

Light catches the gilded carvings along the ceiling, turning them into fleeting highlights against the soft plasterwork.
