Overview

Each series I create follows the same pursuit: capturing calm and beauty in spaces of transition, turning the everyday into a quiet tableau.

Ludwig Favre is a Paris-based fine art photographer. Above all, he captures the energy of America's major cities and the expansive beauty of its landscapes, in images that blend realism with a painterly, almost surreal quality.

In practice, he approaches photography with almost architectural precision. He plans every image, yet leaves it open to the play of light and reflection. As a result, that balance between control and chance defines his visual language.

Biography

Born in France in 1976, Ludwig Favre studied communication before advanced studies in photography at Gobelins, Paris.

Since then, his work has spanned galleries, books, advertising campaigns and editorial projects worldwide. Along the way, he has collaborated with Adobe, Leica, Hasselblad, Ford USA and Condé Nast. Today, he is a Lightroom Ambassador, an Adobe Insider and an ambassador for Accidentally Wes Anderson. In addition, the Ford Foundation Permanent Collection in New York holds his work.

From architectural landmarks to empty beaches, cityscapes and national parks, his photographs turn familiar scenes into quiet tableaux. As a result, actors, writers, designers and architects collect them.

Most recently, the Hasselblad Masters named him a finalist in 2020, 2025 and 2026.
