Southern Spain, late summer. The light here is high and diffused, washing the salt flats in a soft pink glow that bleeds into the pale blue sky. Figures move across the shore, some wading in shallow water stained pink by sediment, others standing motionless with skin marked by dark mud or glistening under sunlight. A white chair rests alone in the foreground of one frame; shoes and other detritus litter the sand where the water recedes. The palette is restrained: the pink of the shallows, the gray of sun-bleached wood, the deep blue of the sky, the occasional flash of a wetsuit or hat. He returns to the same edges, where the land meets the water, where figures pause and linger under the vast, cloud-dappled expanse.

A white chair sits in the foreground like a silent witness, its surface worn smooth by sun and salt.

The pink water shore studies series by Ludwig Favre is available as a limited edition fine art print, signed and numbered.
