Ludwig Favre revisits the coastal landscapes of Spain, here documenting a lagoon at Calpe. The water’s unusual hue, a muted blush against the sky, is a condition of circumstance, not artifice. Foreground reeds and sparse grasses punctuate the stillness; a faint line of distant buildings, barely discernible. It is part of Favre’s ongoing study of peripheral spaces, those zones where cultivated land and natural environment meet. Geometry, water’s film, a distant horizon, suggesting something beyond.
